Our booking and reservation procedure is simple and not online.  There is a lot to talk about when it comes to exploring the northern parts of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.  We’d rather talk directly with you and hear what your expectations and questions are about chartering our Nordic Tug.  It’s more personal and a comfortable way to ask questions and get a quicker and more resolute answer.  Available dates for charter and trawler school are online so you can begin to plan accordingly.  Our policies and procedures for chartering are ancillary to the process and more detailed in the charter contracts and confirmation documents.  Please let us know if we can be of help by contacting us here.

Charter Reservations
A reservation deposit of 50% of the charter fee is required to confirm your charter reservation.  We will hold your dates requested for five (5) business days. You can pay your deposit with any of the major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. Checks are always preferred or the funds can be wired to us as well.  Use tax will not be charged until the charter balance is due.  Charters reservation and confirmations inside 30 days of departure require the full balance of the charter.

Charter Confirmation
Your charter will be confirmed when your deposit is received. Confirmation documents will be forwarded to you via your preferred method of communication for your authorization.  We rely heavily on electronic signatures on documents to expedite the contractual element of the process.  If you do not have internet connectivity or prefer traditional signatures with a pen, we will happily forward the documents in the mail.

Charter Balance
The balance of your charter is due 30 days prior to your departure.  You may pay the balance via any of the major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.  We like points just as much as the next person and don’t want to spoil your trip to Fiji, but we always prefer checks and as mentioned, we will accept wired funds as well.

Charter Cancellation Policy
Our cancellation policy only exists because of life’s unpredictable circumstances.  Our season is short and our fleet is small compared to other charter operations.  Consequently when a charter has been booked for a long period of time, there likely have been requests for that time frame and vessel.  It simply is difficult to make up lost business due to a cancellation with a small fleet and limited season.  Any confirmed charter cancellations may be rebooked within the same calendar year without penalty.  The graduated cancellation fees been established to ensure a reasonable and fair approach if life’s unpredictable circumstances occur.

  • Confirmed charter cancellations made 90 days prior to departure date will result in a 25% deposit forfeiture.
  • Confirmed charter cancellations made 60 days prior to departure date will result in a 50% deposit forfeiture.
  • Confirmed charter cancellations made 31 days prior to departure date will result in a  75% deposit forfeiture.
  • Confirmed charter cancellations made 30 days or less to departure, the entire charter fee is forfeited.

If your confirmed charter dates can be rebooked in full, a full refund less 5% administrative fee will be returned.  We must strictly abide by the policy set forth and cannot make exceptions.  We encourage you to peruse travel and trip insurance.  We have looked at many scenarios and under normal requests and coverage the cost is not excessive.    Check out www.insuremytrip.com for a comprehensive look a many travel insurance policy options.

Refundable Security Deposit
We must insure the vessel you charter returns to us in the same condition as when it departed. The vessel is insured for charter use and has a policy similar to any home or auto policy with a deductible amount.  The amount of the deductible covers repair costs before an insurance claim is made.  It is necessary for us to insist the full deductible amount be paid in full prior to your departure.  A personal check, cashier’s check, wired funds or cash are the only methods acceptable.  Credit cards are not accepted for the security deposit unless you agree to the processing fee.  Your security deposit will be returned in full within 10 days of your charter end date provided no damage has occurred to the vessel during your charter.
